Preliminary results of the 2016 Election of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia

The 2016 Election of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia and the Citizens’ Representatives’ Hural Election of 21 aimags as well as the capital city of Mongolia have been conducted simultaneously throughout the country on June 29, 2016.

According to the General Election Commission of Mongolia, 498 candidates nominated from 12 political parties and 3 coalitions including 69 independents have run in the 76 constituencies for the 2016 Parliament Election, in which one mandate per constituency.

As of the Citizens' Representatives' Hural Election of aimags and capital city, 272 candidates have competed for the 45 seats.

Today on June 30, 2016, Chairman of the General Election Commission Ch.Sodnomtseren introduced preliminary results of the 2016 Elections.

Accordingly, Mongolian People’s Party won 65 seats out of 76, Democratic Party – 9, Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party – 1, and Independent candidate – 1.

As of the Citizens' Representatives' Hural Election of aimags and capital city, Mongolian People’s Party won 34 seats out of 45, Democratic Party – 11.

A total of 1,910,878 citizens of Mongolia eligible to vote were registered, whereas 924,629 citizens in Ulaanbaatar city. In the 2016 Elections, 72,1% of total registered citizens have attended in the poll. In the previous 2012 Elections, the total attendance performed with 65.2% results.

According to Election Law of Mongolia, the General Election Commission will be announcing the final list of 76 candidates elected in the 2016 Parliament Election within 15 days after the election day (June 29, 2016) and to submit the names to the President of Mongolia.
