Japan to support Mongolia by allocating a concessional loan up to 850 million USD

On the second day of his official visit to Japan, Chairmanof the State Great Hural (Parliament) Mr. Miyegombo ENKHBOLD held a bilateralmeeting with Prime Minister of Japan Mr. Shinzo Abe and Minister of Health,Labour, and Welfare of Japan Mr. Yasuhisa Shiozaki respectively.


At the beginning of meeting, Prime Minister Sh.Abe said he was gladto welcome Mongolian delegates headed by Chairman M.Enkhbold in the year of commemorationthe 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Hefurther noted, “The Medium-term strategic partnership program to sign duringyour visit would figure out our two countries’ near future friendship relationsand cooperation. In this scope, parties would actively cooperate and achievethe program objectives. We are glad that Mongolian government and theInternational Monetary Foundation team have reached staff-level agreement on aneconomic and financial program. Consequently, we would like to acknowledge thatJapan is ready to support Mongolia by providing a concessional loan up to 850million USD, which is almost equal to all soft loans issued by Government ofJapan to Mongolia since 1990s”.


Chairman M.Enkhbold thanked for a warm welcoming and expressedhis gratitude to Premier Sh.Abe for his special attention and valuable contributionto strengthening friendships between our two peoples. He also thanked the Governmentof Japan for its decision to allocate the loan of 850 million USD and addedthat the Parliament of Mongolia intends to discuss a bill on budget amendmentin the beginning of its spring session and approve it by April 12, 2017 ensuringthe IMF program implementation.
