Chairman G.Zandanshatar met with Ms. Akiko Santo, President of the House of Councilors of Japan

Mr. G.Zandanshatar, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia, met with Ms. Akiko Santo, President of the House of Councilors of Japan, in Vienna during the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament on September 7, 2021.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the possibilities of expanding close inter-parliamentary cooperation in the framework of further developing the Mongolian-Japanese Strategic Partnership and Cooperation across a number of sectors.

The Chairman expressed his gratitude to Japan, Mongolia's third neighbor, for its support during a time of hardship against the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He also stressed the importance of exchanging political, business, civil service and cultural figures in the framework of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan in the coming year. Mr. G.Zandanshatar expressed his wish for His Majesty the Emperor of Japan and the President of the Speaker of the House of Councilors Ms. Akiko Santō to visit Mongolia at their convenience.

The President of the House of Councilors thanked Mongolia for promoting the “Develop Like Japan” initiative and reaffirmed her readiness to further cooperate in this area.

The meeting was attended by Mr. D.Togtokhsuren, MP and Chair of the Mongolian People’s Party Caucus in the State Great Hural, and Mr. D.Ganbat, MP and Chair of the Democratic Party Caucus in the State Great Hural.
