Parliamentarty Speakers exchanged views on expanding bilateral relations and cooperation between Mongolia the Republic of Korea

On September 7, 2021, Mr. Zandanshatar Gombojav, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia held a meeting with Mr. Park Byeong-seug, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, in Vienna and exchanged views on expanding bilateral relations and cooperation between Mongolia the Republic of Korea.

Noting that last year marked the 30 anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Chairman stated he was pleased that relations between Mongolia and South Korea have developed across a number of sectors at the level of a ‘Comprehensive Partnership’.

The parties noted the significance of high-level talks and reciprocal visits in expanding bilateral relations, highlighting that the President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh and the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in are currently planning to hold a high-level online meeting. 

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to supporting and intensifying the “Northeast Asia Cooperation Initiative for Infectious Disease Control and Public Health” an initiative by President Moon Jae-in and the “Ulaanbaatar Dialogue on Northeast Asian Security”.

Mr. Zandanshatar.G expressed his wishes to increase official visits between the parliaments and parliamentary friendship groups of the two countries and invited Mr. Park Byeong-seug to visit Mongolia. The Speaker of the National Assembly welcomed the Chairman’s invitation and in-return, invited him to visit the Republic of Korea in the near future.
