On October 02, 2018, delegates from the National Diet /legislature/ of Japan headed by Vice President of the House of Councillors Mr. Akira Gunji paid a courtesy call on Chairman of the State Great Hural /Parliament/ of Mongolia Mr. Miyegombo ENKHBOLD.
At the beginning of meeting Chairman M.Enkhbold expressed his satisfaction that the bilateral friendly relations have been successfully growing in all spheres and as a result of this mutual efforts the collaboration enhanced into Strategic partnership-level.
He further underlined the parliament plays an important role in addressing the problems of bilateral cooperation and in supporting the legal frameworks, and thanked the Government of Japan for financing the IMF's "Extended Funding Program” to allocate a soft loan to Mongolia equal to $850 million.
Moreover, the State Great Hural will be fully supporting the 5-year Medium-term strategic partnership program between the Governments of Mongolia and Japan inked in 2017, underlined the Speaker M.Enkhbold.
In turn, Vice President of the House of
Councillors Mr. Akira Gunji stressed that this visit would be significant to
elevate bilateral relations between the two legislatures. Also, he mentioned
that members of the House of Councillors were initiative to support Mongolia’s
team for Tokyo-2020 Olympic games and in this regard, Mongolia’s shooting team
would be providing their trainings in his homeland in Ibaraki prefecture.
Moreover, he expressed his willingness to support Japan's candidature for the World Expo 2025 to host in Osaka.
Present at the meeting were Deputy Chairman of the Parliament, Deputy Head of Mongolian-Japanese Parliamentary Group in Parliament L.Enkh-Amgalan, member of the Mongolian-Japanese Parliamentary Group, MP O.Baasankhuu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Mr. Masato Takaoka, members of the House of Councillors Mr. Naoki Okada, Mr. Makoto Nishida, Mr. Kazuya Shimba, Mrs. Renho Murata and Mr. Tadayoshi Ichida and other officials.
