Weekly review for March 21-25, 2022

March 21, 2022. A discussion on “Creating a new model of development in Mongolia” was organized by the Standing Committee on Security and Foreign Policy of the State Great Hural. In his opening remarks, Chairman of the State Great Hural G.Zandanshatar noted that the Law on Development Policy and Planning was amended in line with the Constitutional amendments made in 2019. It has become an important provision for the long-term sustainable development of Mongolia's society and economy, and for ensuring policy coherence, continuity, and unity.

March 21, 2022. Initiated by the Parliamentary Subcommittee on Sustainable Development Goals, the UNICEF, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, “People in Need” NGO, the National Center for Public Health, and other supporting agencies are participating in the Youth Parliament Program. Participants agreed to implement a sub-program on “Healthy meal - Healthy future” to disseminate knowledge on healthy eating habits and nutrition and to promote healthy lifestyles. The opening of the two-month sub-program was held on March 19, 2022.

March 22, 2022. At the Standing Committee meeting on Budget of the State Great Hural, it was resolved to discuss the draft Loan Agreements between Mongolia and the Asian Development Bank on Climate-Resilient and Sustainable Livestock Development Project, and the Small Expenditure Financing Facility.

March 22, 2022. Chairman of the State Great Hural G.Zandanshatar received representatives of the best participants and organizers of the e-hackathon competition themed on "The Constitutional amendments made in 2019".

March 23, 2022. Deputy chairwoman of the State Great Hural S.Odontuya and parliamentarians B.Bayarsaikhan, T.Dorjkhand, M.Oyunchimeg and B.Purevdorj submitted a draft law on amendments to the Excise Tax Law to Chairman G.Zandanshatar. MP S.Odontuya emphasized that 11 MPs are submitting the draft law to reduce the consumption of sweet and sugary drinks.

March 23, 2022. At the Standing Committee meeting on Legal Affairs of the State Great Hural, one of the issues resolved was agreed to discuss the amendments to the General law on state registration. Within the scope of the amendments, the registration number and address on citizen’s ID card would be hidden and moved to ID chip. Instead, the 12-digit number would be shown on ID card.

March 23, 2022. At the Standing Committee meeting on Economics of the State Great Hural, it was not supported to discuss the draft Loan Agreements between Mongolia and the Asian Development Bank on Climate-Resilient and Sustainable Livestock Development Project, and the Small Expenditure Financing Facility.

March 23, 2022. Chairman of the State Great Hural G.Zandanshatar and members of the working group met with representatives of physicians on the scope of the Doctors' Day to exchange views on legal reform in the health sector and relevant laws.

March 23, 2022. In order to support the Government of Mongolia in accelerating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Mongolia, and to strengthen the National Council for Sustainable Development, the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia has established a Multilateral Sustainable Development Council. The inauguration meeting of the Council was held in the Government House. The Council aims to monitor and analyze the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, provide feedback on planning and financing, and increase multilateral cooperation efforts.

March 24, 2022. Members of the State Great Hural J.Batjargal, D.Batlut, Ts.Iderbat, N.Naranbaatar, Ts.Sandag-Ochir and T.Enkhtuvshin presented the draft law on amendments to the Law on Violations to Chairman G.Zandanshatar.

March 24, 2022. At the plenary session of the State Great Hural, it was agreed to discuss the draft law on Temporary suspension of certain types of state inspections. Also, it was supported to discuss the amendments to the General law on state registration.

March 25, 2022. At the plenary session of the State Great Hural, the 1st conclusion of the Constitutional Court of 2022 was discussed.
