Weekly review for February 1-5, 2021


February 2, 2021. Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia G.Zandanshatar sent a congratulatory message to the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia on its 20th anniversary.


February 2, 2021. The Standing Committee on Legal Affairs and the Secretariat of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development and the International Republican Institute have co-hosted the “Training and Information for Members of Parliament: Oversight” virtual discussion.


February 2, 2021. Members of the Standing Committee on Social Policy led by Chair M.Oyunchimeg introduced the Committee’s work implemented during the Autumn session of the State Great Hural. The Committee met 10 times resolving 25 issues and amendments made to the Law on Health, the Law on Health Insurance, and the Law on Medicines and Medical Devices have reformed the health insurance financing system stressed MP M.Oyunchimeg.


February 2, 2021. Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) G.Zandanshatar held an online meeting with representatives of the Bank of Mongolia, the General Authority for State Registration, the Department of Communications and Information Technology, the General Department of Taxation and the National Statistics Office. The state organs have disparate information and separate databases that cause to mislead the state decisions. Thus, an integrated database for state organs is needed to implement urgently, stressed Chairman G.Zandanshatar. The sides exchanged views and opportunities to implement the tasks in the near future.


February 3, 2021. Members of the Standing Committee on State Structure led by Chair L.Enkh-Amgalan introduced the Committee’s work implemented during the Autumn session of the State Great Hural. The laws adopted during the session are: the Law on Administrative and Territorial Units and Their Management, Law on Election of the President of Mongolia, which were an important step towards bringing the legislation in line with the 2019 amendments to the Constitution, highlighted MPs during the press conference.


February 3, 2021. Head of the Working Group responsible for preparing the bill on Promotion of Cinematography, MP B.Jargalmaa met with representatives of theaters, university and studio to get acquainted with the policies, activities and current situation of those organizations and exchanged views on further promotion of cinematography to adapt in the bill.


February 3, 2021. Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia G.Zandanshatar worked in Bayankhongor aimag and during the visit handed over 400 tons of food and fodder to locals. The Chairman’s initiative to aid aimags with severe winter was supported and requests were forwarded from local and international humanitarian organizations such as the Cabinet, the State Emergency Commission, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the World Bank, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.


February 4, 2021. Members of the Standing Committee on Education, Culture, Science and Sports led by Chair J.Munkhbat introduced the Committee’s work implemented during the Autumn session of the State Great Hural. The Committee met 6 times resolving 33 issues. “The adoption of the initial Law on Museums was an important step in the further development of modern museums. We are also discussing the draft legislation on Promotion of Cinematography that would bring Mongolia’s film industry into the world stage” said the Committee Chair.


February 5, 2021. Members of the working group to elect a member of the National Human Rights Commission in charge of torture prevention, established by the Parliament's Standing Committee on Legal Affairs, held an online meeting to discuss whether to register the candidates.


February 5, 2021. Members of the Standing Committee on Economics led by Chair J.Ganbaatar introduced the Committee’s work implemented during the Autumn session of the State Great Hural. The Committee introduced the bills on 2021 Budget, amendments to the Law on Banking, COVID-19 Mitigation Law, Law on Supporting the Oil Refinery, Revised Law on Treasury, Revised Law on Asset Evaluation, Revised Law on Railway Transportation, Revised Law on Urban Development and Parliament Resolution on State Monetary Policy for 2021, which were discussed at the plenary Autumn session, highlighted Chair J.Ganbaatar.


February 5, 2021. Members of the Standing Committee on Security and Foreign Policy led by Chair B.Battumur introduced the Committee’s work implemented during the Autumn session of the State Great Hural. The Committee met 12 times resolving 20 issues emphasizing the COVID-19 Mitigation Law ratified by the Parliament.
