Chairman of the State Great Hural G.Zandanshatar receives AmCham Mongolia delegation

Today (June 21, 2022), G.Zandanshatar, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia, received a delegation led by James Liotta, Chairman of the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Mongolia (AmCham Mongolia).

Mr. James Liotta thanked the Speaker for taking the time to meet with the members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Mongolia and highlighted the long history of productive cooperation of the Chamber with the State Great Hural and its Secretariat.


At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. G. Zandanshatar noted the relationship between Mongolia and the United States as an important one for its third neighbor policy, and as a relationship that has been developing based on the principles of mutual interest in strategic partnership, democratic values, free market, rule of law and respect for human rights. He, also, stated the steady and close cooperation of Mongolia with Rio Tinto and other investors, and the role of the Ministry of Economy and Development in building a more consistent and stable legal environment for business investment. He invited the members of the delegation to share their views on the business opportunities and the legal environment for trade and investment for both international and national companies.

Mr Liotta stated that his aim, as the Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce, is to increase trade and investment between the two countries. He shared information on his recent meetings with businesses and investors in New York, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco to increase investment in and support to businesses in Mongolia. Mr. Liota further shared that, as part of this agenda, Doorknock 2022 meetings are being held in Ulaanbaatar on June 21-23, 2022, in cooperation with foreign and domestic investors and the US Embassy in Mongolia. The Doorknock 2022 delegation, consisting of foreign and national investors, is meeting with representatives of Mongolia's high-level state officials and relevant ministries to discuss opportunities to improve investment, trade and business environment of Mongolia and further promote free market economy.

The parties exchanged views on the legal environment for investment and the current economic challenges.

AmCham Mongolia is an independent, non-governmental organization dedicated to strengthening and expanding the US-Mongolia business partnership, protecting its interests, and attracting American investment to Mongolia.
