Deputy Chairwoman of the State Great Hural Kh. Bulgantuya met today (January 29, 2025) with Shannon Cowlin, Resident Representative of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Mongolia.
At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Chairwoman Kh. Bulgantuya expressed gratitude for ADB’s long-standing support since 1997, highlighting its contributions through grants and technical assistance projects to the development of urban areas and improvement of citizens’ quality of life. She reaffirmed her confidence that ADB will continue to play a meaningful role in Mongolia’s sustainable development.
The State Great Hural has actively supported the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In 2023 and 2024, in collaboration with Stanford University and the Ban Ki-moon Foundation, Mongolia successfully organized the Altai Transboundary Sustainability Dialogue, which promoted gender equality, women's empowerment, peace, justice, and institutional strengthening.
Deputy Chairwoman Kh. Bulgantuya emphasized that these efforts significantly contributed to increasing the female candidate quota from 20% to 30%, fostering greater representation in Mongolia’s political landscape.
She also noted that this year, under the patronage of the President of Mongolia, a Sustainability Summit on Climate Change and the "Billion Trees" initiative will be held. The event aims to bring together policymakers, experts, researchers, and practitioners from Asian and Altai regional countries to discuss regional partnerships and global best practices in addressing environmental challenges.
The discussions will focus on green finance, technical cooperation, and diplomatic engagement, and Deputy Chairwoman Kh. Bulgantuya invited ADB to participate as a sponsor in this initiative to further enhance regional cooperation in sustainability.
