Deputy Chairwoman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia Kh. Bulgantuya and her delegation paid a courtesy call on Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the beginning of the meeting, Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and expressed her gratitude for Mongolia’s participation in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. She highlighted that the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries have continued to grow stronger and expand amid societal and contemporary developments. Chairwoman Narbaeva also emphasized that the official visit of President of Mongolia U. Khurelsukh to Uzbekistan in June of last year marked a significant milestone and opened a new chapter in bilateral relations.
Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbaeva, noted that during the official visit, she had the opportunity to pay a courtesy call on the President of Mongolia. She emphasized that both sides expressed a shared commitment to strengthening the legal foundation of bilateral relations and fostering closer cooperation between the legislative bodies through mutual visits and exchange of experience. She also highlighted that a delegation led by MP and Chair of the Mongolia-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Group, S. Erdenebat, participated as observers in the regular elections of the Oliy Majlis held in October last year. Chairwoman Narbaeva expressed her confidence that by further advancing inter-parliamentary relations, broader cooperation in social and economic sectors will also expand.
Deputy Chairwomen of the State Great Hural (Parliament) Kh. Bulgantuya expressed her pleasure to visit Uzbekistan following the successful State Visit of the President of Mongolia and the opening of the Mongolian Embassy in Tashkent—both landmark events in bilateral relations. She extended her gratitude for the warm and cordial welcome. Continuing her remarks, she highlighted that both Mongolia and Uzbekistan successfully held their parliamentary elections in 2024. She also noted that under the recent constitutional amendments, Mongolia now has a newly formed Parliament consisting of 126 members, including 32 women MPs.
She also extended her congratulations on the successful continuation of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Tashkent, noting that Uzbekistan has become the first Central Asian country to host such an event. Deputy Chairwomen Kh. Bulgantuya highlighted that the Assembly has featured fruitful discussions and meetings focused on enhancing the role and contribution of parliaments in regional and international cooperation, strengthening inter-parliamentary ties, and exchanging experiences.
She went on to mention that during the Assembly, Mongolian representatives held discussions with relevant ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan to explore possibilities for increasing bilateral trade, particularly in the agricultural sector. Both sides emphasized the potential of intensifying mutually beneficial cooperation in key sectors with growing economic impact, which would further strengthen regional partnership.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Deputy Chairwomen of the State Great Hural (Parliament) Kh. Bulgantuya extended an official invitation to Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbaeva, to attend the upcoming Asian Women Parliamentarians' Forum to be held in Mongolia next year.
The meeting was also attended by Members of Parliament O. Nominchimeg, N. Naranbaatar, and B. Punsalmaa, Secretary General of the State Great Hural B. Baasandorj, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Republic of Uzbekistan D. Batbaatar, according to the Secretariat of the State Great Hural (Parliament).
