Presented the draft regarding how electric bicycles and scooters are addressed in the Law on Road Traffic Safety

Today (2025.05.06), the regular meeting of the Working Group established by the Speaker of the State Great Hural (Parliament) under Order No. 76 of 2024, tasked with drafting a law to regulate the use of electric bicycles (surrons) and electric scooters to ensure road traffic safety, was held.


Member of the State Great Hural (Parliament) and Chairperson of the Working Group, P. Batchimeg, presented the draft law amending the Law on Road Traffic Safety (regulating electric bicycles and scooters) to members of the Government of Mongolia, including Minister and Chairperson of the “20-Minute City” National Committee, R. Erdeneburen, Deputy Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, T. Davaadalai, and other relevant officials, and exchanged views.


R. Erdeneburen, Chairperson of the “20-Minute City” National Committee, stated that this draft law is timely and addresses one of the pressing issues of Ulaanbaatar—the regulation of newly emerging transport vehicles. He emphasized the importance of urgently discussing and passing this draft law during this spring parliamentary session.



Deputy Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, T. Davaadalai, noted that with the arrival of the warm season, the use of electric bicycles (surrons) and electric scooters has increased, resulting in a rise in incidents involving young children. He stressed the necessity of adopting this draft law and implementing appropriate regulations promptly and expressed willingness to cooperate.
