Students Begin Their Savings Journey Through the "LEVEL UP" Financial Literacy Program

Initiated by D. Amarbayasgalan, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia, the “LEVEL UP” program was successfully implemented in six districts of the capital city and six provinces across the country. Carried out in cooperation with the Bank of Mongolia, the Financial Regulatory Commission, the Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the General Authority for Education, the program aimed to enhance high school students’ basic knowledge of financial literacy.

The initiative offered both theoretical and practical training on wise money management and responsible spending habits, alongside competitions and various awareness campaigns. These efforts focused on helping students become financially literate and capable of building personal savings.

Officially launched in Uvs and Zavkhan provinces in February, the program reached 821 students and trained 27 instructors. Closing events were held recently in the two provinces to review outcomes, recognize outstanding participants, and award certificates to all students involved. In Uvs, the event featured a showcase of student-led initiatives, online campaigns, and a debate competition designed to improve critical thinking and economic literacy.

Students actively promoted smart financial habits by creating educational content and leading local awareness campaigns. They also took part in Global Money Week, uniting their classes and schools around the cause. Based on the program's performance evaluation, four teachers and two schools were selected for distinction, with Uvs Province receiving the “Innovative Province” trophy.

In Zavkhan, 511 high school students participated. Two general education schools and three teachers were recognized for their engagement. Students highlighted the value of topics such as investment fundamentals, savings strategies, and methods for managing income, expenses, and risk—subjects often not covered in standard curricula.

Since its launch in January, the “LEVEL UP” program has reached over 5,000 students. As the program concludes, students are now sharing their newly acquired knowledge and skills through ongoing community-based outreach events.
