Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia D. Amarbayasgalan received the Federal President of the Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen, who is on a state visit to Mongolia today (2025.05.26).
Chairman D. Amarbayasgalan emphasized that this state visit by the Head of State of the Republic of Austria to Mongolia is the first of its kind in the 62 years since diplomatic relations were established between Mongolia and Austria. He noted the visit’s significant importance in elevating bilateral cooperation to a new level. He highlighted the growing relationship and cooperation between the two countries, which share common values such as democracy, human rights, freedom, and the rule of law. He expressed gratitude for Austria’s support and collaboration in Mongolia’s democratic development, rule of law, parliamentary governance, and free-market economic path.
The Chairman further stressed the importance of parliamentary cooperation in expanding bilateral relations, emphasizing the activation of multifaceted interactions between parliamentary groups and turning proposals and initiatives aimed at strengthening future cooperation and connections into concrete actions, including establishing a legal framework. The State Great Hural pledged full support for these efforts. Additionally, he proposed developing cooperation to strengthen parliamentary governance and establish a comprehensive legal system that respects human rights, meets social needs, and is transparent and accessible to the public.
The Mongolian-Austrian Parliamentary Group has been established in the parliaments of both countries. In the State Great Hural, the group is chaired by MP N. Batsumberel, with B. Batbaatar and Kh. Bolormaa serving as deputy chairs, and members including J. Aldarjavkhlan, Sh. Byambasuren, Ts. Munkhbat, T. Munkhsaikhan, M. Narantuya-Nara, and S. Odontuya.
