Mongolia–Turkey Parliamentary Caucus Members Express Support for Advancing Bilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation

On May 28, 2025, Member of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia and Head of the Mongolia–Turkey Parliamentary Caucus, Mr. S. Zulphar, along with fellow caucus member MP D. Bum-Ochir, held a meeting with Her Excellency Ms. Başak Genç Yüksel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Mongolia.


At the outset, MP S. Zulphar extended congratulations to Ambassador Yüksel on her recent appointment, noting that it came at a critical juncture for elevating bilateral cooperation within the framework of the countries' strategic partnership. He conveyed greetings from the Speaker and Deputy Speakers of the Parliament and emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in expanding friendly ties across political, economic, educational, cultural, and humanitarian sectors.


Recalling the historic visit by the President of Mongolia, H.E. Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, to the Republic of Turkey on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, MP S. Zulphar noted that the visit had elevated the bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership. He reaffirmed the Parliamentary Caucus’s commitment to ensuring that the outcomes of the visit are realized in practice, particularly through efforts to expand trade turnover and improve the investment climate.

Ambassador Yüksel expressed appreciation for the meeting and remarked that President Khurelsukh’s state visit had opened a new chapter in bilateral relations. She welcomed the increase in high-level reciprocal visits and stated that the long-standing friendly ties between the two nations, built upon shared cultural heritage and history, provided a strong foundation for diversifying cooperation, especially in the trade and economic spheres. She also highlighted the growing interest of Turkish businesses and private sector representatives in investing in projects and programs currently underway in Mongolia.


The Ambassador underlined her country’s commitment to mobilizing all available resources to boost mutual investment and deepen economic cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.

MP S. Zulphar acknowledged the vital role that the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has played in Mongolia’s social and economic development, having implemented over 870 projects and initiatives worth a total of USD 50 million over the past 30 years. He also highlighted that more than 2,500 Mongolian students have studied in Turkey under government scholarships and are now contributing to various sectors in Mongolia, further strengthening people-to-people ties.


MP D. Bum-Ochir added that there is potential for further expanding cooperation in education, and proposed step-by-step implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing collaboration in history, archaeology, and cultural heritage.


At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed that parliamentary cooperation is a key pillar for consolidating and advancing the strategic partnership between Mongolia and Turkey, and committed to working together to achieve tangible outcomes.
