Deputy Chairman of the State Great Hural, B. Purevdorj, received Alexander Nikolaevich Zhirkov, Deputy Head of the Il Tumen—the State Assembly of the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic—today (June 10, 2025).
Deputy Chairman B. Purevdorj highlighted the traditional friendly relations and the historic ties between the peoples of Mongolia and the Sakha Republic. He noted that under the framework of relations and cooperation between the Russian Federation (RF) and Mongolia, the two countries have maintained amicable relations and discussed opportunities to elevate this partnership to a new level. He also mentioned that the relevant standing committee of the State Great Hural had preliminarily approved a framework agreement with the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union. Following government approval, this agreement would open favorable conditions for trade and economic relations between Mongolia and the Sakha Republic.
Deputy Head Alexander Nikolaevich Zhirkov emphasized the broad cooperation between the two countries in history, culture, society, economy, as well as sports and the arts. He noted that in March of this year, Mongolian artists held an exhibition at the National Art Museum of the Sakha Republic, and Mongolian athletes have achieved success in the traditional Yakut sport of wooden wrestling. Zhirkov also serves as a member of the Council of Legislators under the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Assembly of Legislators under the State Duma. He has been continuously elected to the Il Tumen since its first convocation and is responsible for science, culture, health, sports, and youth affairs.
The Deputy Chairman and Deputy Head discussed the potential for further expanding and deepening cooperation between Mongolia and the Sakha Republic in various fields and mutually expressed their commitment to actively pursue these efforts.
