Today (29 July 2025), Mr. S. Zulphar, Member of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia and Chair of the Mongolia-Turkey Parliamentary Cooperation Group, together with Mr. D. Bum-Ochir, Deputy Chair of the group, received and met with a delegation led by Mr. Kayhan Türkmenoğlu, Member of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey.
At the beginning of the meeting, Chair S. Zulphar expressed his appreciation for the long-standing friendly relations between the peoples of Mongolia and Turkey. He also welcomed the elevation of bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership following the official state visit of Mongolia’s President U. Khurelsukh to the Republic of Turkey in January this year.
He expressed confidence that this historic state visit has made a valuable contribution to enriching the content of bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries across social and economic spheres, as well as further expanding and developing cooperation in various sectors. Furthermore, it was a productive visit that clearly defined the future goals and objectives of the partnership.
Additionally, Mr. Kayhan Türkmenoğlu, Member of the Grand National Assembly elected from Van Province of the Republic of Turkey, expressed his gratitude for the active engagement and initiative shown in advancing bilateral relations.
Mr. D. Bum-Ochir, Member of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia and Deputy Chair of the Mongolia-Turkey Parliamentary Cooperation Group, expressed gratitude for the initiative taken during the state visit of the President of Mongolia to Turkey to organize the Van Province program. He also acknowledged efforts to advance the archaeological excavation of the summer palace ruins of Khublai Khan in Khan Village of Van Province and the proposal to implement a joint project based on this initiative that would serve as a symbol of historical and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
Mr. Kayhan Türkmenoğlu, Member of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey, expressed his pleasure at the visit of the Head of State of Mongolia to Van Province, which he represents. He emphasized that the discovery of the palace of Ilkhanate ruler Hulegu Khan in Van Province is a significant archaeological find that strengthens historical ties between the two countries and is an important heritage for both Mongolian and Turkish peoples.
He also highlighted that the museum project for the statue of Mergen Tonyukuk in Nalaikh District, implemented by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), will serve as a cultural bridge between Mongolia and Turkey. Furthermore, he pledged continued support for projects and programs being carried out in Mongolia.
