The 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament has commenced

The 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament commenced today (29 July 2025) in Geneva, Swiss Confederation. Representing Mongolia at the conference are Mr. D. Amarbayasgalan, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament), along with MPs J. Bat-Erdene, Ts. Sandag-Ochir, A. Ariunzaya, Kh. Baasanjargal, and J. Ganbaatar.


Chairman of the State Great Hural, Mr. D. Amarbayasgalan, was welcomed and greeted by Ms. Tulia Ackson, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU); Mr. Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the IPU; Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva; and Mr. Earle Courtenay Rattray, Chef de Cabinet to the UN Secretary-General.




The 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament aims to strengthen multilateral cooperation and calls on parliaments and parliamentarians to:

-       Promote responsibility and democracy in international relations

-       Advance parliamentary diplomacy in support of peace and mutual understanding

-       Amplify the voices of citizens within the United Nations system

-       Support the implementation of international commitments at the national level




According to the Press and Media Department of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia, Chair of the State Great Hural, Mr. D. Amarbayasgalan, will deliver a speech at the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, which is being attended by 84 speakers and 18 deputy speakers from the parliaments of 180 IPU member states.





He will address the General Debate of the conference under the theme “A world in turmoil: Parliamentary cooperation and multilateralism for peace, justice and prosperity for all, and panel 1 on women’s and youth participation in parliament”
