During the 2025 Spring Session of the State Great Hural, the draft law to amend the Law on the State Great Hural of Mongolia was adopted.
Under this law, which came into effect on July 9, eight Standing Committees were established. These committees are mandated to conduct preliminary discussions and issue opinions and conclusions on draft legislation submitted by the initiators, to be presented at plenary sessions. They are also responsible for exercising parliamentary oversight and drafting resolutions of the State Great Hural on matters specifically outlined by law.
In this context, the composition of the Standing Committee on State Structure was renewed, and it continues to operate with 32 members.
In addition to the existing Subcommittee on the Immunity of Members of the State Great Hural within the Standing Committee on State Structure, the recent amendments to the Law on the State Great Hural of Mongolia also provide for the establishment of two new subcommittees: the Subcommittee on Regional Development and the Subcommittee on Ethics.
In accordance with the Law on the State Great Hural of Mongolia, the composition of the Standing Committee on Justice has been renewed and now consists of 25 members.
The committee is responsible for addressing 17 key areas, including legal policy; human rights, freedoms, and their guarantees; crime prevention and criminal justice policy; the implementation of national border protection policy; the legal basis for imposing legal liability and criminal justice policy; as well as the legal framework and independence of the judiciary.
The Subcommittee on Human Rights, which operates under the Standing Committee on Justice and is specifically responsible for matters related to the protection of human rights and freedoms, amnesty, immigration, and citizenship policy, has also had its composition renewed and now consists of 12 members.
