Members of the parliamentary groups of Mongolia and Bhutan will study experiences and cooperate within their respective legislative institutions

MP B. Bayarbaatar, Deputy Chair of the Mongolia-Bhutan Parliamentary Group in the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia, received and met with a delegation from the Bhutan-Mongolia Parliamentary Friendship Group at the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Bhutan on 7 August 2025.

 


The meeting was attended by A. Ganbaatar, O. Saranchuluun, and S. Erdenebold, members of the Mongolia-Bhutan Parliamentary Group in the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia, as well as Kuenga, Chair of the Bhutan-Mongolia Parliamentary Friendship Group, and members Rinchen Wangdi, Namgay Wangchuk, Kuenzang Thinley, and Yangchen Lhamo from the Kingdom of Bhutan. The participants exchanged views on bilateral relations and cooperation.


At the beginning of the meeting, B. Bayarbaatar, Deputy Chair of the Mongolia-Bhutan Parliamentary Group in the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia, noted that the two countries established diplomatic relations in 2012 and that the Mongolia-Bhutan Parliamentary Group currently consists of nine members.


He also recalled that in July 2024, at the invitation of the President of Mongolia, His Majesty the King of Bhutan paid a state visit to Mongolia, during which Memoranda of Understanding were signed in five areas: culture, education, agriculture, traditional medicine, and media. The delegation’s visit marked the first parliamentary-level visit, and both sides agreed that it reflected the successful implementation of bilateral relations and cooperation, with tangible results already evident.


Noting that it is important to study experiences and adopt best practices within legislative institutions, B. Bayarbaatar, Deputy Chair of the Mongolia-Bhutan Parliamentary Group, briefed the delegation on legal reforms, policies, and activities being implemented by the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia.


At the conclusion of the meeting, the delegation of the Bhutan-Mongolia Parliamentary Friendship Group expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed their pleasure that, as countries sharing common historical, cultural, and religious values, relations and cooperation between the two nations are expanding and strengthening.
