A delegation led by Dashzegve Amarbayasgalan, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia, is paying a visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan. On the first day of the visit (September 4, 2025), Chairman Yerlan Koshanov of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan welcomed the Mongolian delegation in front of the Mazhilis Palace, after which the parliamentary leaders of the two countries held official talks.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Kazakhstan highlighted the long-standing friendly relations between Mongolia and Kazakhstan, noting that in recent years cooperation has intensified across many sectors. He expressed his appreciation that the Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia is making an official visit after 22 years. He recalled that during President K. Tokayev’s visit to Mongolia last year, the two countries set a goal to increase bilateral trade turnover to USD 500 million within the framework of their strategic partnership and signed 11 documents covering various areas of cooperation.
He emphasized that the current visit by the Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) is important for maintaining the frequency of high-level state talks and discussions and represents the beginning of a new phase in bilateral relations. Speaker Yerlan Koshanov also expressed Kazakhstan’s interest in strengthening multifaceted relations between parliamentary groups and cooperating in introducing advanced forms of information technology in legislative processes.
Chairman D. Amarbayasgalan of the State Great Hural (Parliament) emphasized that the foundation of relations between the two countries, which share deep historical, cultural, and traditional ties, will be inter-parliamentary cooperation. He highlighted that this visit to Kazakhstan, the first strategic partner in the Central Asian region, is of significant importance in consolidating the strategic partnership between the two countries. He noted that Kazakhstan is not only a key regional partner for Mongolia but also a strong bridge connecting Mongolia to Central Asia.
He expressed a desire to focus on establishing the legal framework to expand and develop trade and economic cooperation, actively implement intergovernmental discussions, and broaden multifaceted collaboration in sectors such as transport and logistics, agriculture, light industry, tourism, education, and culture. In doing so, he underscored the importance of business networks and connections in developing trade and economic cooperation.
The two sides discussed expanding cooperation between standing committees and parliamentary groups, establishing regular communication between the parliamentary administrations of the two countries, mutually supporting legislative activities, and creating opportunities for sharing experiences.
Thus, the official talks covered a wide range of issues, and a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia and the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The memorandum was signed by Chairman D. Amarbayasgalan of the State Great Hural and Chairman Yerlan Koshanov of the Mazhilis of Kazakhstan.
Additionally, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Khovd Province and East Kazakhstan Region, with signatures from M. Amarsanaa, Governor of Khovd Province, and Nurymbek Saktagonov, Governor of East Kazakhstan Region.
During the official talks, officials present included U. Otgonbayar, MP and Chair of the Mongolia–Kazakhstan Parliamentary Group in the State Great Hural, B. Beisen, MP and Chair of the Standing Committee on Economic Policy, Budget, and Finance, Members of Parliament T. Aubakir K. Jangabyl, S. Zamira, S. Zulphar, B. Punsalmaa, P. Ganzorig, B. Jargalan, Ts. Munkhbat, M. Sarnai, and G. Khosbayar, B. Kherlen, and B. Baasandorj, Secretary General of the State Great Hural, among other officials.
