MP Kh. Ganhuyag, Chair of the Standing Committee on Budget and Chair of the Mongolia–United States Parliamentary Group in the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia, together with members of the Group, today (25 August 2025) received members of the United States House of Representatives.
At the outset of the meeting, MP Kh. Ganhuyag welcomed the congressional delegation to Mongolia and underlined that bilateral relations between the two countries have been further strengthened in recent years as a result of frequent high-level reciprocal visits.
He highlighted the official visits exchanged last year by Minister for Foreign Affairs B. Battsetseg and U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, noting in particular that, during these visits, the two sides held the inaugural Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue — a clear demonstration of the deepening partnership.
Furthermore, he mentioned that Mongolia revised and adopted the General Law on Education in 2023, stipulating English as the principal foreign language of instruction, and expressed his satisfaction with the official launch of the “English Language Proficiency Center” at the National University of Mongolia. Both sides agreed that these developments play a vital role in enhancing mutual understanding between the peoples of Mongolia and the United States — a cornerstone of the bilateral partnership.
MP Kh. Ganhuyag further noted that, as a result of systemic reforms, the newly established Parliament now comprises 126 members representing five political parties and coalitions, including 32 women MPs — a significant indicator of progress towards gender equality. He underlined that the current State Great Hural (Parliament) is focusing on creating a business-friendly legal environment free from excessive state pressure, having introduced amendments to the Law on Permits and working to implement comprehensive tax reforms.
Mr. Ami Bera, Member of the United States House of Representatives, expressed his appreciation that Mongolia has consistently adhered to its democratic path, serving as a model in the region. He emphasized that bilateral relations, grounded in shared values, should be viewed from a centuries-long perspective. He further noted that inter-parliamentary cooperation plays a pivotal role in strengthening democracy, consolidating the rule of law, and advancing multifaceted relations aimed at diversifying the economy.
During the meeting, D. Ganmaa, Deputy Chair of the Mongolia–United States Parliamentary Group in the State Great Hural (Parliament), raised the issue of improving public health services and enhancing public education and awareness in this field, and exchanged views with congressional members representing the medical sector. The two sides also held open discussions on cooperation in the energy and agricultural sectors, future trends in the education system, and strengthening transparency and good governance.
The meeting was attended by MP and Minister for Labour and Social Protection T. Aubakir, as well as MPs D. Ganmaa, B. Munkhsoyol, D. Batbayar, and Ch. Anar.
