Member of Parliament held a virtual meeting with the Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Central Asia Parliamentary Cooperation Committees for relations with Mongolia

Today (May 18, 2021), member of the State Great Hural of Mongolia Ts.Munkhtsetseg held a virtual meeting with Mr. Fulvio Martusciello, Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Kazakhstan, EU-Kyrgyzstan, EU-Tajikistan and EU-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committees and for relations with Turkmenistan and Mongolia (DCAS) in the European Parliament. The meeting was attended by H.E. O.Och, Ambassador of Mongolia to Belgium, and Mr. Traian Laurentiu Hristea, Ambassador, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Mongolia.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Fulvio Martuchillo congratulated Ms. Ts.Munkhtsetseg, MP on her appointment as the Head of the Mongolian parliamentary group for relations with European Parliament. Mr Fulvio emphasized that both sides would continue to work on organizing the regular inter-parliamentary meeting and further strengthening the bilateral cooperation.

Ms. Ts.Munkhtsetseg, MP kindly requested to convey a congratulatory letter from H.E. G.Zandanshatar, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia to Mr. David Sassoli, the President of the European Parliament, on the occasion of Europe Day, a day of peace and unity of Europe. “Mongolia highly values its relations with the EU and its Member States and works to expand the inter-parliamentary partnership and cooperation under Mongolia's “third neighbor” policy”, she said.

Also, she highlighted that 2019 marked the 30 anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the European Union. The anniversary was enriched with significant milestones and achievements. The Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Mongolia and the EU is in force, the Mongolia-EU Joint committee convenes annually and the Development working group was established within this cooperation mechanism.

The long-term objective for Mongolia is to further strengthen relations with EU and its Member States and to expand our cultural ties, people-to-people relations through intensification of the trade and investment.
