Weekly review for June 7-11, 2021


June 8, 2021. MP J.Chinburen represented the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia at the IPU’s virtual meeting of parliaments, organized as a side meeting to the United Nations High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS. The meeting was held under the theme of “The role of parliaments in addressing inequalities to end AIDS by 2030”.


June 9, 2021. Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) G.Zandanshatar cast his vote for the 2021 Presidential Election at the 29th constituency. He mentioned that the year of 2021 marks the centenary of the People’s Revolution of 1921 and the first Presidential Election held after the amendments made in the Constitution of Mongolia, and called for all voters to take an active part in the elections.


June 11, 2021. Chairperson of the General Election Commission of Mongolia P.Delgernaran and members of the Commission presented the final results of 2021 Presidential Election to the Chairman of the State Great Hural G.Zandanshatar. According to the law, the General Election Commission is required to submit the final results of the presidential election and the resolution on approving the authority of the President of Mongolia to the State Great Hural within 10 days after the vote. Also, with the latest amendments of the Constitution of Mongolia made in December 2019, the new president will be appointed for a single six-year term, instead of the renewable four-year term. 


June 11, 2021. The Parliamentary Research Institution at the Secretariat of the State Great Hural hosted a recurrent virtual training for staff of the Secretariat themed “Proceedings to review whether a public servant has violated the Constitution”.


June 11, 2021. The State Structure Standing Committee reviewed the draft law on recognizing the full rights of the President-elected candidate based on the final results of the presidential election submitted by the General Election Commission of Mongolia. Also, the draft resolution of the State Great Hural on setting the date for the swearing-in of the President of Mongolia was discussed and agreed to set on June 25th at 11.40 AM.


June 11, 2021. The “Book Day” event organized under the auspices of the Chairman of the State Great Hural launched at the Sukhbaatar Square. The 29th event organized annually was participated by over 100 printing companies, 80 booksellers, about 300 writers, translators, editors and more than 50,000 readers, which was continued for three days.


June 11, 2021. At the plenary session of the State Great Hural, the draft law on recognizing the full rights of the President-elected candidate was ratified. The draft resolution of the State Great Hural on setting the date for the swearing-in of the President of Mongolia was approved. Also, the 6th conclusion of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia was reviewed and agreed to accept. Moreover, amendments to the law on social insurance were approved.
