Chairman of the State Great Hural meets newly appointed Ambassadors of the Kingdom of Sweden and the Republic of Finland to Mongolia

G.Zandanshatar, the Chairman of the State Great Hural of Mongolia received the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden and the Republic of Finland to Mongolia today on March 28, 2023.

 

At the beginning of the meeting with Helena Songeland, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Mongolia, G. Zandanshatar, the Chairman of the State Great Hural congratulated on the presentation of her Credentials to the President of Mongolia and wished her success in her work. He said that the Kingdom of Sweden was the first among the Nordic countries to establish diplomatic relations with Mongolia and is a close and important "third neighbor" country in Europe. He emphasized on that our two countries have common values ​​of democracy and human rights.

 

Ambassador Helena Songeland said that she is very happy that she is representing the Kingdom of Sweden in Mongolia and that she is visiting Mongolia for the third time. She said that the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Sweden and Mongolia will be celebrated next year and she is confident that many events will be organized to support cooperation between the two countries. She also expressed gratitude for the establishment of the Mongolia-Sweden parliamentary group at the State Great Hural.

 

G.Zandanshatar, Chairman of the State Great Hural, stated that  bi-parliamentary cooperation is very important in the relations between the two countries. The visit of Osa Lindstam, the First Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag, to our country in May 2022 has been an important event for bilateral relations, especially for bi-parliamentary cooperation. He, furthermore, expressed his confidence that Ambassador Helena Songeland will support the previously discussed issues including the creation of the Sweden-Mongolia group at the Riksdag and commit to intensify trade, economic and educational cooperation.


At the beginning of the meeting with Lina-Kaisa Mikkola, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to Mongolia, G. Zandanshatar, Chairman of the State Great Hural congratulated on her appointment to Mongolia and wished her success in her work. He said that traditionally friendly relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Finland have developed steadily based on common values ​​such as democracy and human rights and this year celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. He emphasized that it is commendable that the parties will jointly celebrate the historic anniversary.


Ambassador Lina-Kaisa Mikkola thanked the Chairman of the State Great Hural for taking the time to meet and noted that Mongolia is an important partner country of not only Finland but also the countries of the European Union. She expressed her desire to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries on a larger scale and expressed that she would pay particular attention on the education sector.

G.Zandanshatar, Chairman of the State Great Hural, stated that the bi-parliamentary cooperation is very important in the relations between the two countries. The visit of G.Damdinnyam, the Chair of the Standing Committee on Education, Culture, Science and Sports at the State Great Hural, to Finland in 2022 has been an important event for the cooperation between the two parliaments.

The parties exchanged views on the possibility of expanding cooperation in many sectors such as trade, environment, education and culture.
