Kh. Bulgantuya Meets with Oyu Tolgoi CEO Deirdré Lingenfelder to Discuss Sustainability and Climate Initiatives

Deputy Chairwoman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) Kh. Bulgantuya met today, February 5, with Deirdré Lingenfelder, Chief Executive Officer of Oyu Tolgoi LLC.


At the outset of the meeting, Deputy Chairwoman Kh. Bulgantuya highlighted that the State Great Hural has been actively advancing the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda by successfully organizing the Altai Transboundary Sustainability Dialogue in 2023 and 2024 in collaboration with Stanford University and the Ban Ki-moon Foundation. She expressed gratitude for Oyu Tolgoi LLC’s support and cooperation in these efforts and introduced the upcoming Sustainability Forum on "Climate Change: Billion Trees," which will be held under the auspices of the President of Mongolia in June.


She further elaborated that this year's Sustainability Forum aims to bring together policymakers, experts, researchers, and practitioners from across Asia and the Altai region. The discussions will emphasize the significance of regional partnerships and focus on fostering cooperation in the Altai and Asia-Pacific regions by drawing upon global lessons and best practices in tackling shared environmental challenges. The forum will prioritize green finance, technical collaboration, and diplomatic engagement. In this regard, Deputy Chairwoman Kh. Bulgantuya invited Oyu Tolgoi LLC to join as a sponsor.


Deirdré Lingenfelder, CEO of Oyu Tolgoi LLC, underscored the critical role of the Altai Transboundary Sustainability Dialogue in advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. She commended Mongolia’s leadership in hosting the dialogue and welcomed this year’s forum's theme and objectives. She expressed confidence that the forum would contribute meaningfully to the global fight against climate change and affirmed Oyu Tolgoi LLC’s willingness to collaborate in the initiative for the third consecutive year.
