S.Byambatsogt, the Chairman of the State Great Hural of Mongolia, received a delegation led by Mr. Viengthavisone Thephachanh, President of the State Audit Organization of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), on June 8, 2026.

At the outset of the meeting, Chairman S.Byambatsogt warmly welcomed the distinguished guests to Mongolia and emphasized the steady development of the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.

He noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1962, Mongolia and Laos have consistently strengthened cooperation in political, parliamentary, and other sectors. He further highlighted the important role played by cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries in advancing bilateral relations.

The Chairman also underscored that cooperation between the State Great Hural of Mongolia and the National Assembly of Laos has expanded actively in recent years, with reciprocal visits and exchanges of experience becoming increasingly regular. He recalled that the redwood table, chairs, and other furnishings presented by the National Assembly of Laos to the State Great Hural in 2003 remain in use today in the plenary chamber of the Mongolian Parliament, serving as enduring symbols of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

Chairman S.Byambatsogt further noted that the State Great Hural adopted a revised Law on State Audit in 2020, strengthening the independence of the state audit institution and improving its legal framework. He expressed his best wishes for the success of future training programs and discussions to be jointly organized by the audit institutions of the two countries.

Mr. Viengthavisone Thephachanh, President of the State Audit Organization of the Lao PDR, expressed his gratitude to the Chairman for the warm reception accorded to the delegation. He stated his satisfaction with the expanding cooperation between the legislative bodies and state audit institutions of the two countries. He also conveyed an invitation from the President of the National Assembly of Laos for Chairman S.Byambatsogt to pay an official visit to Laos at a mutually convenient time.

The meeting was attended by Member of Parliament S.Odontuya, Head of the Mongolia-Laos Parliamentary Friendship Group in the State Great Hural; Member of Parliament B.Punsalmaa; Mr. Thoy Phonthilat, Vice President of the State Audit Organization of the Lao PDR; and H.E. Mr. Hongkeo Souksavath, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao PDR to Mongolia.
